blame it on the excitement of decorating, or the yule tide cheer, perhaps it was the fairies (drink)??? Whatever it was, there is no excuse for my complete neglect to mention our new friend from yule school!

she will be known as Marthawannabe (but Rhonda calls her Mary Alice -*possibly too much desperate housewives??) and she is fun and fab!!! A little mysterious, she pretends to work at high end adult shops, but really doesn't (although we found out at Micheal's she looks totally hot in red glitter). It isn't until her last comment that she FINALLY told me just how many Christmas trees she has - EIGHT, 8, ocho. let the record show, we have found a soul sister as crazy as us.


anyone who will do a late night Micheal's run with me, blonda and meg deserves ..... well probably something better than we can offer.

good: welcome my adorable niece Donna to blog-land, i'm sure the locals will be hospitable and send fruit baskets. Donna just wrote a hilarious post about taking her daughter to a concert.

sad: news on 16 year old Allee is not good. the doctors are doing more tests but they say she has had a stroke. her mom, Sherry, is of course beside herself. mom of 3 is keeping us up to date. please send them your prayers and good thoughts!!

ps. a woman that i just met recently throught the wonderful world of blogging, Sherry (aka mystiqeye), has a 16 year old daughter, Allee, who has been checked into the cardiac unit of their hospital for heart problems. Allee is also a month late to deliver her baby girl. It is too risky for Allee if they take the baby right now, but Allee isn't doing well. PLEASE please send your prayers and thoughts to this family as they get through this. My friend Kim (aka mom of 3) is keeping us updated on her blog.

a little light after dinner conversation

after dinner last night my brother Curt came down stairs with a book he found in the bathroom and wanted to know "who is reading His Dark Materials?"

the reader was not amongst the family left after dinner. this then spurred a conversation about the book. His Dark Materials is the Golden Compass trilogy. the movie will be coming out this holiday season.

so what's the big deal you ask???

a few of us received an email a month back about this exact book and movie and that it is based on anti-religious themes. now i am jaded, i don't believe ANYTHING i read in forwarded emails. i check my sources, usually Google it or go to http://www.snopes.com/ (all urban legends, fact and fiction).

it was true, this book is written by an avid atheist and is designed to look similar to the Chronicles of Narnia but in fact is completely opposite in story meaning. i have not read the book but am linking here to the snopes website so that you may evaluate for yourself.

the fact is this is being played as a family movie and the book is being sold as a children's book. i am not one of those people that jump on the band wagon about witches and warlocks are evil, in fact I LOVE HARRY POTTER and feel it has very religious themes! i fully support the first amendment and have nothing to say about the existence of this book or movie, to each his own. i do however believe you should know the background and themes of the things we expose our children to.

since only a few of us had heard this info last night i though i might post some information that others may make educated decisions.

on the 12 hours of black friday my local retailers gave (sold) to me:

• 11 times circling the parking lot



• 10 (thousand) phone calls to/from sisters, brother, mother



• 9 shopping lists



• 8 minutes on the phone with wells fargo fraud



• 7 pairs of pj's



• 6 hour sales



• 5 hours of sleep



• 4 different barbies



• 3 digital cameras



• 2 magna doodles



• 1 needed nap

thanksgiving day parade

1. we got up..... late.
2. looked at ads.


3. realized we were late for dinner at Grandma's (and it's an hour long drive). oops.


4. ate. well. desserted well also.


5. made attempst to take our annual family "Christmas card picture". What a joke. they all sucked, from my bad hair and make up to my husband who blinks a lot and a child who was MIA most the time.


6. came home, put worn out child in bed for nap. while we put up the Christmas tree.





7. decorated it together.





8. starting tomorrow I will be sitting by the mail box waiting for Christmas cards to put on my cool homemade card holder.


9. go to bed asap, need to be at Mervyns at 4am. followed by walmart at 5, and target at 6..... macy's and home depot somewhere there after.
